Trust / Lust

— Released 17th November 2014 on Counter Records

Submotion Orchestra, the Leeds based 7-piece live electronica outfit, return with ‘Trust / Lust’, the second single to be taken from their new album Alium.

One of the album’s many highlights, and a fan favourite at recent festival appearances, "Trust / Lust" sets Ruby Wood’s heartbreaking vocals against a backdrop of half-time beats and a blizzard of synthesizers to stunning effect.

Backing up "Trust / Lust" is a second album cut, the dolorous "Swan Song". Another showcase for Ruby’s dulcet tones, this is slow burning soul at its finest and yet more evidence of Submotion Orchestra's skill at bringing disparate elements together into a coherent whole.

Completing the package we have remixes from some of today’s most exciting producers.

"Trust / Lust" shows its versatility with three new versions; Little People encases Ruby’s vocals in fragile electronica, Houndstooth resident Throwing Snow turns in a remix that owes as much to Chicago’s Footwork scene as it does the electro-funk of acts like Zapp while New Zealand Drum’n’Bass duo The Upbeats raise the tempo with a rework sure to send clubbers’ hands sky high.

Meanwhile Black Butter upstart Kidnap Kid transforms "Swan Song" into a bruising late night House anthem and young Irish prodigy Mmoths revisits previous single "City Lights", swaddling the track in layers of reverb and effects to mesmerizing effect.

Submotion Orchestra will be back on the road later year and have just announced a 20-date UK and European tour, including dates in France, Germany, The Netherlands and a headline show at The Forum in London.
