Manchester based DJ and producer Anz releases her long awaited new EP “All Hours”. The release marks Anz’ debut release for Ninja Tune and pays homage to the many faces and seminal eras of electronic music. It's an ambitious, evocative interpretation of the sounds and sentiments that comprise a day (and night) out on the UK underground. “ ‘All Hours’ was built to be a soundtrack for 24 hours, from sunrise to the next. Dance music for people who are up all hours - through the day to the club and onwards, each track leaves traces in the one that follows”.
Seamlessly pieced together in Anz’ genre bending, infectiously joyous style, each track flows effortlessly into the next “sort of like a mini Spring/Summer Dubs” - a reference to her celebrated annual production mixes. Pitchfork characterised the 2021 edition of Spring/Summer Dubs as “an exhilarating hour...fueled by a real sense of fun”. The recently released singles ‘Real Enough To Feel Good’ - a hybrid nod to classic UKG and Baltimore Club - and the effervescent ‘You Could Be’ (featuring London based artist George Riley), both received amazing support from the likes of Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Clash, Pitchfork Selects, Magnetic Mag, The Vinyl Factory and Crack Magazine (who featured Anz as their cover star in June).
On lead single ‘You Could Be’, The Guardian said “One of the UK’s best young dance producers leans hard into pop for this utterly joyous track”. Zane Lowe also described the track as ‘a classic fast-paced, electro, R&B monster’, with Danny Howard and Greg James both featuring ‘You Could Be’ as the Hottest Record and Track of The Week on their BBC Radio 1 shows.
The EP follows a hugely successful few years for Anz where, despite a global pandemic, she stayed busy. Launching her own label OTMI, heading up a momentous BBC Radio 1 residency, celebrating four years of her lauded monthly NTS show, securing DJ Mag’s 2020 UK ‘Breakthrough DJ’ award and releasing a critically acclaimed 12” with UK stalwarts Hessle Audio - which featured 2020 anthem ‘Loos in Twos (NRG)’, Anz has cemented her position as one of the most exciting and hard working young voices in UK dance music. She’s been called upon by Mary Anne Hobbs for guest mixes, covered NTS Radio’s flagship breakfast show and played recent stand-out sets at Peggy Gou Presents, Riverside Festival, Dekmantel Selectors, Four Tet Curates WHP, Waterworks and Boiler Room London to name a few.
‘All Hours’ is out now digitally on Ninja Tune, with the 12” vinyl out 5th November.
